- Wild
Utahraptor prime is an incredibly aggressive subspecies of Utahraptor found on the Island. Information technology tends to travel in small hunting packs, attacking smaller prey with its sharp teeth and enlarged foreclaws. When hunting in packs, the pack leader can vocalize a signal that acts every bit a battle cry. Exist prepared to run or fight if you hear the phone call of the Utahraptor! The pack volition repeat the calls and attack with much greater intensity. One of the faster creatures on the island, Utahraptor ofttimes uses their pack numbers to their advantage by swarming around their casualty before information technology can react. The large curved talon on the second toe of this sub-species seems particularly suited for dealing significant impairment. Utahraptor prime usually impale its prey with numerous slashing and biting attacks in rapid sequence.
- Domesticated
What the Utahraptor lacks in size, information technology makes up for in ingenuity. Rather than chase down smaller creatures, Utahraptor will pounce and pin its prey to the ground rather than chasing it around. Despite its normally aggressive nature, Utahraptors accept go 1 of the primary combat mounts for roaming bands of raiders, too as scouts for larger collectives. Those who ride Utahraptor claim they are difficult to tame, but and so fiercely loyal. As a carnivore, once tamed they require a steady stream of meat to sustain.

Behavior [ ]
Raptors may not be the most physically intimidating of animals, but their relatively small size, intelligence, range and mobility brand them past far the nearly successful and effective predator of humans and other "pocket-sized" wildlife in the entire game. They attack almost anything, fifty-fifty creatures many times their size on sight, and take felled more than survivors than any of their competitors. They often attack with a "run-and-bite" strategy and can pounce at smaller targets than itself or of equal size holding the target down making them unable to move, making information technology difficult to defend against an onslaught. A dangerous predator to see in the nighttime, Raptors are nearly incommunicable to fend off when attacking in packs and aided by darkness. The Raptors oft attack from dissimilar directions, using this method to accept downward prey while avoiding damage. Due to their loftier speed and ability to vocalize for pack vitrify (if in a pack of 3 or more), they are hard to flee from during a histrion'south early levels, and information technology is advised to make for deep water (or but deep enough water that you tin can be just out of accomplish) if attempting to flee an attack or run behind a door and immediately shut it.
Appearance [ ]
The Raptor is a relatively small dinosaur with feathers on the caput, back, tail, and on the backs of the arms. They come in a diverseness of colors, although dark-green and reddish brown seem to be the almost mutual, while the rarest color variation is black.
Color Scheme and Regions [ ]
This section displays the Raptor'due south natural colors and regions. For demonstration, the regions beneath are colored ruddy over an albino Raptor. The colored squares shown underneath each region's description are the colors that the Raptor will randomly spawn with to provide an overall range of its natural color scheme. Hover your cursor over a colour to display its name and ID.
This data can exist used to alter the Raptor's regions by entering cheat SetTargetDinoColor <ColorRegion> <ColorID> in the crook console. For example, cheat SetTargetDinoColor 0 vi would colour the Raptor'southward "trunk emphasis" magenta.

Wild Stats Level-upward
Type in values of a wild creature to run across on which stats information technology's emphasized. Green values on a high-level creature are very good for breeding. If you take already tamed your creature you lot can try to recover the convenance stats with an external tool.[1]
Raptor
The stat-calculator does not work in the mobile-view, meet here for alternatives: Apps
Annotation that after the animal is tamed information technology gets bonuses on some stats depending on the taming effectiveness. This makes it difficult to retrieve the levels on a tamed creature, so this tool is only for wild ones, but gives a showtime impression, how well the stats are distributed.
Taming [ ]
For general info nearly domesticating a wild creature run across Taming.
KO Strategy [ ]
Firstly, Raptors do not crave a lot of tranquillisers to knock out, fifty-fifty if information technology is a high level.
Kickoff with a thrown Bola to keep information technology from pursuing yous. Once it's immobile, use Tranquilizer Arrows (headshots result in quicker knockouts). Do this advisedly; information technology should not take very many.
Note that some Raptors may randomly dodge your bola, and so be sure to take more then one, better condom and then lamentable!
Once it is unconscious, employ Narcotic. Narcotics and Prime Meat will tame it more efficiently. Narcoberries and Raw Meat also piece of work. Go along a precipitous watch for other Raptors as they ofttimes come up in groups, and for other predators, as they are oft found in high-traffic areas; unless yous have a large herd of supporting dinos or a number of tribemates to assist out, y'all may have to take the fourth dimension to find an isolated Raptor, which tin can take a long time, or kill off the extra creatures.
When a raptor is solitary, expect for it to kill some other dino and tranq it while information technology is feeding on the corpse.
Taming Food [ ]
Note that the values are for optimal cases, always bring extra supplies!
For a level-dependent count of resources needed, endeavour an external taming calculator.
Ingredients for
Simple Kibble: 1 ×
Cooked Fish Meat, 1 ×

Alpha Heave [ ]
When in pack of iii or more, the Raptor of the highest level in the grouping gets the Alpha boost for 45 seconds upon making utilize of vocalization. The Alpha has a glowing red cloud effectually it to signal its status whereas the rest have an orange cloud adjacent to themselves. Tamed Raptors also have a bonus for each member of the pack : so a pack of 3 Raptors or more than will receive a +ane Bonus, which will go upwardly to +X in a Group of 10+1 or more Raptors (max corporeality of X is four).
Combat [ ]
They run fast and assail faster, so be prepared for a quick reaction, commonly a histrion with proficient speed and stamina tin can outrun them, only exist aware, they can be persistent. Always check the Raptor'due south environment and be prepared, they accept a practiced visual range. Raptors tin also pounce upon survivors and their smaller tames. Is not often recommended to fight a pack of wild raptor with a low level tamed one, equally your raptor will exist outnumbered and pounced upon whilst yous are hopelessly strangled by other members of the pack.
In fact, avert any contact with a pack of Raptors if you are riding whatsoever tame that you may be able to be pounced off of. Even if your tame is strong, your will be pinned down.
General [ ]
Raptors can oft exist constitute in packs of 2 or more, depending on the zone you volition find them close to the shores, or deep in the jungle.
Strategy [ ]
The best strategy is to keep distance or heavily engage with them, depending on your stats, armor and weaponry. At first you may want to avoid them. Ane play tricks is to run to a herd of
Trikes,
Stegos etc. and get the Raptors to hit and aggro them past accident, making a diversion or a ways to gather lots of meat and hide. If a Raptor is a depression level, a
Spear tin easily kill it, merely beware, if they are in a pack of ii or more, this strategy will not piece of work! A way to kill loftier level ones, or two or more than Raptors is to accept a good climber, like a
Thylacoleo, or a flyer. Then climb onto a big rock, as they are skillful jumpers, from there, shoot it with a
Slingshot,
Bow,
Crossbow etc. It should die fairly quickly.
Fighting fire with fire also works, use pack animals like other raptors or even better, direwolves, to exterminate an inferior pack is sure to work, it likewise asserts your dominance against them.
Likewise, make sure the Raptor is not glowing carmine. If information technology is, that's an Alpha Raptor!
Weaponry [ ]
One well placed headshot with a Crossbow can take out a Raptor with a level between 1-20. Since they are fast, attempt to make them run in a directly line and be fix for shooting. A full set of hibernate armor or other armor stronger than cloth armor and whatsoever weapon will also do. Having a bola in your inventory is very useful, especially if you lot're depression level considering you can bola the Raptor if information technology attacks you and run, or impale it.
Dangers [ ]
Raptors can be unsafe if they reach y'all from behind, somewhen you will learn to recognize their steps on the ground and start running earlier this happens. If yous or your dino are relatively smaller than them, they can pounce and render you lot immobile for some fourth dimension. Extra caution must be taken when facing a
Abnormal Raptor, as information technology will always use the pounce when in gainsay. Try to take them out when they are engaged with some big animal if you want to hands kill them, but don't hitting the bigger animal!
Weakness [ ]
Raptors have a very low Torpor tolerance, you can effort to knock them out with a few punches if you have a high melee damage stat. Wild Raptors besides make for awkward swimmers, and even a relatively ill-equipped survivor with a basic spear tin lure them into the shoreline as a tide-turning terminal resort.
If they have immobilized a target, they tin can't attack whatsoever other dino until they hop off the said target, making them vulnerable should there not be whatever other Raptors nearby.
Utility [ ]
They can exist useful and lightweight for traveling, as far equally their Stamina lasts, you may want to increase their Stamina if you want them for ship, or their wellness and attack harm if you want them to help you on combat. They gather about the same or slightly more material per carcass compared to a Stone Pick, but finish gathering faster.
They can besides pounce onto smaller targets to temporarily immobilize them (and to kill them). If a survivor is on a sure mounted dino, Raptors can also knock them off their mount and immobilize them.
The following creatures can be immobilized by its pounce ability:
Note: Tin can only pounce
Ferox in its small course.
The following mounts that a Raptor tin can knock a player off of:
The following additional creatures on ARK: Survival Evolved Mobile can be immobilized by its pounce ability:
Roles [ ]
- Damage: A quick attacker with decent damage that tin hands circle slower enemies, the Raptor makes for a good attack animal early on. Information technology lacks the health and raw impairment of the
Direwolf and
Sabertooth however. (Wellness and Melee Damage). - Hunter: Similar to Impairment, the Raptor is useful for collecting
Hide and
Meat once you lot have a saddle. Though metal weapons tend to deal more damage, the raptor's raw speed allows you to run from an unsuitable fight. (Health and Melee Damage). - Hunting/Battle Pack: In a pack of iii or more, the pack leader can temporarily vocalize for pack buff towards all others for 45 seconds(Level Impairment and Health to all Raptors, with Stamina, Comport Weight, Melee Harm and Health added to the one ridden).
- Travel: Raptors are very fast, and make for good mounts for quick travel effectually the island. They cannot deport much, however, so they make for poor pack animals. They practice behave a perk over flight mounts in that they tin cover a lot of ground without much residue for stamina regeneration, and tin can hide in the forests and alpine leaf if one wants to travel unnoticed. (Level Speed, Stamina, and Carry Weight).
- Light Cavalry Mount: With the advent of the ability to utilise melee weapons like Pikes and firearms like the Assault Burglarize from the back of medium to small sized mounts, the Raptor can be very useful every bit a flanking cavalry mount past sprinting in and having the passenger fire at close range or by assuasive a sniper to chop-chop circle around the enemy, fire, and and then reposition or escape. Another particularly effective method is to use a Fabricated Sniper Rifle while at a altitude, only you do need to exist conscientious non to shoot your own Raptor in the head, and dive in and out of thick forest cover. This combines the effectiveness of long range with the speed and agility the raptor can provide, while non exposing the shooter like a flying mount would. If chased, just dart into the thicker wood and laugh equally the enemy tries and likely fails to discover you lot as y'all outrun all of their land mounts only can use the copse for cover against airborne threats. (Level Health, Stamina, and Speed, with Carry Weight as needed).
- Cavern Mountain:
Sabertooths can exist seen equally an upgrade of the Raptor in terms of strength (in previous versions, now - Raptor is stronger), but it turns out that Sabertooths have difficulty with attacking airborne creatures considering of their extremely low hit box and the fact that their jumps lack vertical reach. They can hardly handle a swarm of
Onycs. Raptors take no issues hitting Onycs however, and are therefore the meliorate selection. But you lot must proceed an middle on your own health since airborne creatures deal harm to the rider, unless you ride a
Megaloceros. Having a mount in caves has several advantages: Your nutrient and water count drib slower, the mount can carry useful stuff, and they deal and have damage (Level Health, Damage, and Stamina). - Early on Prime Meat Hunter: As one of the first prime number meat gatherer available for a player Raptor tin can hunt solitary or in a very effective team with
Ichthyornis. In the second instance you lot just demand to command the
Ichthyornis to Hunt and Recollect pocket-size creatures like
Dodos and

For data pertaining specifically to the existent-globe Raptor, see the relevant Wikipedia article.
-
Blastoff Raptors are non able to pounce or vocalize, likely because this would exist too powerful. - Like many other dromaeosaurs, it is believed that Utahraptor did not use its sickle claw as a slashing weapon, merely rather for pinning its prey to the basis (this is due to the very thick profile of the claw). Dromaeosaurs such as Utahraptor, Velociraptor, and
Deinonychus probable used their sickle claw to concur onto struggling prey while primarily using their teeth to bargain injuries, while flapping their feathered wings to keep themselves balanced (similar to a bird of prey). - On the PS4, the Tek Raptor may still jump even if it is encumbered.
- The species of Utahraptor ostrommaysorum was beginning studied and named after the release of the movie Jurassic Park, in which a similar dinosaur was erroneously chosen Velociraptor. (Although information technology should exist noted that part of the movie's plot was that dinosaurs made for the park were based on pop culture representations rather than science, a theme actually repeated in this game as well). The bodily Velociraptor mongoliensis was about the size of a big turkey, and take only been plant in Mongolia. The dinosaur from Jurassic Park was being excavated in the Badlands of Montana, while Utahraptor ostrommaysorum was discovered in the Dalton Wells Quarry of east-central Utah.
- Despite the Raptors in ARK being identified as a species inside the genus Utahraptor, the skull seen in its dossier is of Velociraptor rather a fellow member of the subfamily Dromaeosaurinae, which Utahraptor belongs to. The Raptor's in-game model, however, resembles Achillobator giganticus or dakotaraptor steini.
- Raptors oftentimes kill themselves by attacking stronger herbivores fifty-fifty with temporary pack boost. Some herbivores can even take out whole packs.
- The name of the Utahraptor means originally approximately "Utah plunderer".[2]
- Raptors tin exist seen as the mascots of ARK. They appear in much of the promotional artwork and in one of the in-game holiday events.
- The Raptors in-game are depicted with only a few feathers, while their real-world counterparts would have had a total coat over their body, similar to the appearance of the Therizinosaur
- The Proper name "Utahraptor prime number" translates into "best Utah plunderer".
- Raptors received a major update during TLC Stage two that gave them a pack heave effect (similar to
Direwolf), and the ability to pounce on and immobilize smaller creatures and survivors for the impale, similar to the
Thylacoleo. - Raptors utilise one of the older voice pack for pack boost vocalisation.
- In ARK, the hands and clawed fingers on the Raptor'southward arms point downwardly, whereas in real life, the easily of Raptors pointed inwards towards the chest, and had the all-time mobility moving side to side rather than up and downward. If existent Raptors hands were rotated like the ones in ARK, their wrists would exist broken.
- Raptors has been one of the main cause of deaths for all survivors, with the total leading of 62,257 kills, followed by
Dilo with thirty,715 and
Trike past 24,686.[3] - This applies to all maps but Extinction, with its main death cause at #5.
- Audio effects for the Raptor were taken and modified from Jurassic Park.
- Raptors are immune to a
Managarmr's dive flop attack. - At that place is a small window of opportunity for players to dodge a Raptor'south pounce attack by performing a spring, though it is difficult to accomplish.
- In the TLC Laissez passer Three trailer, the raptor made
Deinonychus noises. - Since the release of Genesis: Office 1 Wild Raptors were rendered unable to pounce with the exception of its Aberrant Variant.
- The Corrupted Raptor bears a striking resemblance to a classic Jurassic Park raptor, with naked scaly skin and dark-brown scales. Although of grade, being corrupted, it's tail and backside are wrecked.
